Career Goal: Currently pursuing Doctorate in Human Sexuality so that I can corrupt, uh... I mean teach the youth of America. ETA I'm still pursuing that goal, but it is much faster than I am. I see a short cut up ahead that may lead me to the same place, so I'm waiting to start nursing school.
Family: Me, Mr Hazel, my beautiful, crazy, bright, nutty, funny, zany, irreverant, mercurial daughter, her best friend, whom I lovingly refer to as my red-headed step-child and have all but adopted, occasionally his flyboy son, and a very large, sprawling, extended circle of found, chosen and inherited family.
Pets: Four beagles, two black cats, three ball pythons and a present count of 15 corn snakes.
Fandoms: LOTR, POTC, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars, X-Files, X-Men, pretty much anything I have stumbled across that has good writers.
Favorite Authors: Rhysenn-she's to blame for luring me to LJ in the first place, Diana Williams-lovely in every fandom, Lemur-she is to blame for the loss of my RPS squick (though Rhysenn would have done it had she gotten there first), FireSignWriter and Webcrowmancer, both of whom can turn me into insta-puddles with the heat of their smut, Fabu, Linaelyn and all the other marvelous pirate storytellers, AJ Hall-who made me fall in love with Nevile and the idea of Draco/Nevile, Emma Grant and Helens and Jedi Rita for their absolutely engaging Queer as Jedi series as well as everything they write individualy, Midnight Blue-though I despair over the chances that she will ever finish Mirror of Maybe, and at least twenty three others who aren't coming to mind just yet.
What I'm doing here:
My original intent when I created this journal was to be able to leave comments on all the lovely ficcies I was reading. But this thing is like quick sand, I tell ya. Like quick sand. It started with harmless posts about my life. Then there were the pointless but ammusing quizes. Now I have truly fallen. After years of reading slash fanfic in more fandoms than I care to repeat without succumbing to the presures of writing, I have been swallowed whole by the LJ pirates fandom, and now I'm writing these damn things. |
